About The International College of Celebrancy

In 1973, Lionel Murphy, Attorney General of Australia, created a civil infrastructure for training officiants to create ceremonies of beauty and power that mark life’s events. Today, Australian celebrants conduct 55% of all weddings on that continent, as well as funerals, namings, and a broad range of ceremonies. The College of Celebrancy has established training courses in the US, UK, and New Zealand.

Celebrants across the globe realize the importance of culture in people’s lives, how great the need is for a broad range of ceremonies in our lives, and how such life events should be performed with creativity, imagination, and skill.

"We wanted the type of ceremony where people were not bored and where they sat on the edge of their seats waiting for more. Gerry gave us the perfect ceremony. It was funny, animated and at the same time sentimental. We could never have done it ourselves. Not only did Gerry tell our story, but he expanded on it and made it a story that everyone wanted to hear. It was perfect!
